چکیده
Human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a ubiquitous virus of worldwide distribution and is the leading cause of infant morbidity from respiratory infections. By the age of two years nearly all children have been infected and can cause severe bronchiolitis and pneumo‐ nia in this age group (Hall et al., 2009). Nearly 100% of children in the USA are infected with the virus by 2 to 3 years of age, several hundred infants may die directly from the infection, while the deaths of an additional several thousand may be attributed to RSV-related compli‐ cations (Nair et al, 2010). The World Health Organization estimates that (RSV) is responsible for 64 million infections worldwide and 160,000 deaths per annum (Openshaw, 2002).

متن کاملIdentification of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Genome in the Stool of a Child with Acute Gastroenteritis
Case Report: Some viruses have been reported to cause respiratory and gastroenteric infections simultaneously. In this case we present isolation of human respiratory virus (RSV) type B from diarrheal sample of a 12 months' child with acute gastroenteritis. Results: The results indicated the presence of RSV subtype B genome in all three stool samples. Moreover, no sign of co-infections with oth...

متن کاملRespiratory Syncytial Virus Infection in Patients Referred to Kasra Hospital Laboratory during 2016-2019: A Continuous Study:
Abstract One of the main cause of severe respiratory infection in infants and young children is respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The disease can also occur in adults and elderly individuals and clinically not to be differentiated from other viral respiratory infection. The disease causes bronchiolitis, and sometimes pneumonia in new born and young children which requires hospital care. To di...
متن کاملA SURVEY OF RESPIRATORY SYNCYTIAL VIRUS IN CHILDREN IN THREE EDUCATIONAL AND THERAPEUTIC PEDIATRIC CENTERS IN TEHRAN
Nasopharyngeal swab samples from patients with an acute flu-like illness were evaluated for the presence of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) from October 1996 to March 1998. The relative frequency and seasonal distribution of RSV was assessed. In addition, the virus correlated with specific clinical signs and symptoms. During the study, 268 samples were collected from children under the a...
